Grolls in the artistic creation process

I immerse myself in the artistic universe where the daily elements, such as the Grolle , can be transformed into identity emblems during the creation process. A recent article published in the world in 2020 reveals this captivating reality. La Grolle, an ordinary but nevertheless suggestive object: it serves as an extension to our being, protective coverage, a silent observer of our movements. It then becomes much more than a simple clothing ornament. It is transformed into a significant icon at the heart of the artistic process. This process of ...

The sketch…, the shadow of a work of art

In the current time when digital reigns, I find a sweet nostalgia in the simplicity of the sketch. The latter, often forgotten and relegated in the shade of the great works of art, nevertheless retains an undeniable charm. Isn't his discretion a reflection of his strength? Doesn't its absence in the abstract emphasize its crucial importance? Let me guide you towards the rediscovery of this medium so precious for any artist: the sketch.

Camille and the lake

Camille and the lake has almost become a recurring theme in my artistic work, because it takes up all the elements that make up my research work which revolves around human posture and the space used. In addition, the lake offers this diversity of textures and colors which are specific to it and which bring additional fascination to this enchanting space. The first work worked on this theme in 2020…

NFTs…

This post is simply the look that I take as a so-called classic artist on a virtual universe which turns out to be knocking on our doors in a harassing way and which we definitely want to take a look at if only out of curiosity. Art and the NFT or the NFT in art. Some time ago, through training on the protection of works of art and their timestamps, I heard this term for the first time... just a few months later I was able again hearing this word spoken in the informative context of emerging virtual universes, then it was a chain of requests to acquire my works for the benefit of virtual commerce on dedicated platforms with this recurring label of NFT.

“Beauty mark”: a swimming ritual

Today, I would like to share with you one of my works that is particularly close to my heart: “Grain de Beauté”. By creating this painting, I wanted to capture a moment of tranquility and contemplation, by choosing a high angle view of my wife sitting on the edge of Lake Annecy and about to jump into the water for her moment swimming favorite.

I have known this procedure for many years and I still take great pleasure in contemplating its ritual. Very often, I make a quick sketch of his preliminary postures. This is also the case for the work “Backless” that I painted after this one, moving slightly to the right.

“The glacier of the Alps”

My goal was to capture every detail precisely, from the textures of the clothing to the facial expressions of the individuals. This attention to detail helps create a dynamic and immersive atmosphere, where each person seems to be telling their own story.

The queue which extends in depth adds a dimension of realism to the scene. The use of perspective helps show the background and the characters lined up, giving a sense of movement and constant activity.

"Rainy day"

Today I would like to share with you one of my recent works entitled "Rainy Day". This painting captures a moment of tranquility and reflection, a scene that resonates deeply with my love for nature and the calming solitude it can offer.

Made from a preliminary sketch made on the shore under the shelter of a bus stop. It is an acrylic work protected by anti-UV varnish on a 100 x 70 cm linen canvas and it is delivered with a certificate of authenticity and an international deposit certificate. It is also framed with an American box in light wood. (See photo at bottom of page)

Singulart… it’s over!

Seduced by the humanist argument of the platform, highlighting the presence of a collaborator(e) artist ready to answer your questions, I in fact imagined the time of registration that collaborative work would be established to the extent that everyone respects the other's working time.

A first email informing me that one of my works had aroused interest from a “collector” (be careful at singulart there is no distinction between collector and art lover) but with an acquisition request brought to - 25% brought my response to an acceptance of -10%. The answer or the slightest information on this negotiation is still awaiting a return to this day…

Figurative art: A minefield of interpretations

The interpretation of a figurative work can indeed be subject to misunderstandings or misinterpretations. I am keen to raise this subject because it is visibly recurring for so many reasons and therefore becomes a generator of divergences.

I still have a very present memory of the hours of classes in Art School where the teaching evoked iconography in which it was a question of linking the composition to the intentional research of the artist and of being able to appropriate a certain reading considered qualitative to allow a better understanding of the work visualized. This analysis has always created for me

“The girl in blue”

Summer conjures up images of warmth, freedom and peaceful moments in nature. It is precisely this atmosphere that my latest painting captures, entitled “THE GIRL IN BLUE”, a work of art born from a simple pencil sketch inspired by the recurring journey of a young woman dressed in a blue dress.

I first sketched the scene in graphite, capturing the essential contours and details. This crucial step allowed us to lay the foundations of the composition and capture the essence of the moment. Back at the workshop, I reproduced the sketch made on a 70 x 70 canvas using the grid process. I then

The sketch… basis of my approach

I have a very special affection for this moment which mixes stroll, discovery and the challenge of freezing a moment full of emotions.

On this basis of sketches, sprinkled with memories and mixed with imagination, the paintings come to life in my workshop.

The sketch has this very special privilege of appropriating a moment, often very quickly, to try to share an emotion or an extract from a personal journey. It has this ability which is specific to it, through the gaze to be transcribed, to set in motion a mechanism between the gaze and the hand which will have to translate the different perceptions like a singular imprint.

A feeling that goes down in history…

Since that day I have received three pieces of information entitled

“The threat on Delacroix’s painting”

and I admit that the fourth piece of information coming from the Maison des Artistes pushed me to send a letter directly to Rémy Aron, president of the Maison des Artistes.

The letter received is entitled "Call to Artists for an immediate moratorium"...

My long-standing feelings about heritage dictated the letter that I am delivering to you here.

I don't know your reactions to reading my text, but it is a position that is close to my heart as an architect specializing in renovation and as an artist with an academic background.

When art goes to the mountains…

Very honored to be included in this selection, I really appreciated the initial philosophy of this event. Indeed, a collective exhibition is organized within this village for a period of 4 days and which ends with an auction. The conditions required to access this event as an artist are simple and respectful. Furthermore, the objective of the auction is to be able to raise funds for a local cultural association.

35 minutes on air… Radio Grand Lac

Radio Grand Lac is a local radio station, but whose name resonates like a distant land. All that's missing is the little Canadian burnt wood house, with a moose head at the entrance.

The subject addressed: “The fusion of art and architecture”, two very similar skills that, personally, it took me a long time to embrace jointly, constantly trying to analyze my two postures to better understand their meaning. nesting.

“Pareidolia”… a work of art with two faces

Visual pareidolia are part of optical illusions.

I wanted to talk to you about this work born from a sketch and a reflection following a debate with a friend, a painter like me. Together, we often discuss the course of life and its evolution. From memory, it seems to me that the comments made came from the observation, or rather from the way of evoking the term resilience through the current human posture.

painter and architect…

I am a contemporary figurative artist and my work diversifies with different mediums. In painting, I like oil and acrylic, with an inclination towards acrylic due to my attachment to the sketching spirit. In drawing, I like to work with a pen, Indian ink, charcoal, black chalk and red chalk.

Having received training as an architect, this practice guided my artistic research towards human posture. My work aims to explore and echo posture, ergonomics, the space concerned and the format of the canvas.
