Singulart… it’s over!

Actually...I've been thinking about it for a while!

Singulart is a sales platform that is supposed to connect artists and buyers and in the process take a 50% commission on the price of a work. We must also not forget that this platform is a start-up... this category of virtual company whose skills are based on the permanent financial contribution of others with a rather low-quality and above all automated counterpart. In other words, do the least and generate the most.

For the story…

Constantly monitoring the digital aspects of art, one day I discovered the presence of Singulart which appealed to me and which supported my future vision of the artistic market. I therefore submitted an application file, answering various questions and attaching some references to works produced. In the month that followed, I received a favorable response stating that my work met their expectations and that I had been selected to integrate the Singulart platform. Obviously, this type of feedback is flattering for the day and the week that follows. The second week already introduces a trivialization of reports.

Seduced by the humanist argument of the platform, highlighting the presence of an artist collaborator ready to answer your questions, I in fact imagined the time of registration that collaborative work would be established to the extent that everyone respects the other's working time.

The hidden side

A first email informing me that one of my works had aroused interest from a “collector” but with an acquisition request reduced to -25% brought my response to an acceptance of -10%. The answer or the slightest information on this negotiation is still awaiting a return to this day…

This example is to be multiplied by 10 since my registration and interspersed by emails inviting me to share my opinion of satisfaction... The type of recurring grotesque situation of companies without added values. I remain convinced that a company that masters its skills knows how to overcome this test.

Since the beginning of 2024, Singulart has been discussing the possibility of setting up a subscription process which was first intended for new subscribers and which very quickly took on a generalized aspect through a fateful countdown from July 9, 2024 - 0 h set up on every artist dashboard. This subscription ranges from €29.99 to €149.99, obviously retaining the 50% commission on any sales.

Impaired communication

I did not subscribe to this posture which I find unspeakable and terribly abusive. Furthermore, following this date of July 9, 2024, contrary to the indications given by Singulart, my works remained visible on the site indicating “not currently available” and leaving the possibility for an interested person to be able to leave their e-mail… in the “how to create a network” section… take courses at Singulart by exploiting the work of others.

So I was finally able to have all of my work removed under the threat of having the ADAGP intervene for using the images without authorization.

It seems very important to me that a relationship of trust exists between a dealer and the artist he represents. This trust can materialize in different forms but Singulart, to which I award the prize for incommunication, appears to me to be an opportunistic company without any scope.

When a toxic and exploitative relationship makes itself felt, you have to flee!!!… So I decided to flee Singulart and make it known.

I also remain convinced that each artist has their own potential, but especially not that of being exploited under the perverse label of visibility and that it is high time to bury the icon of the cursed artist.

Synthetic…

My work remains visible and is accessible on my personal site: www.alainrouschmeyer.art (translated into 6 languages and more to come) and on which I remain on permanent watch to respond to any request. I work with different trusted companies for leasing, or financing procedures.

I am also present on the following sites: RISE ART, ARTMAJEUR, MISANCENE, ARTS ARTISTS ARTSWORK

A work produced out of cynicism towards a society whose toxic posture has caused much damage, favoring incommunication and automated virtual dialogue...

A work that evokes many current situations…

Alain Rouschmeyer

Alain Rouschmeyer is best known for his acrylic paintings on medium format canvas and his contemporary ink drawings. An observer of everyday life, he analyzes the human walk through the postures and spaces crossed, as if to probe the banal and capture its scent. His artistic itinerary invites him to work on architecture in which he likes to reflect on living spaces and the transversalities that define their uses. Like a poet-analyst, Alain Rouschmeyer's work navigates between reality and intimacy revealing attachment and detachment according to a conscious will. It explores the hidden dimension of everyday life which never ceases to challenge us like jazz music or warm blues. The romanticism of which he fully assumes the contemporary and timeless translation inhabits the support as an involved space.
