Evening dress

Sometimes daily life immerses us for a more or less long period in a sort of well-oiled routine which consists of getting up at the same time, having lunch with unfailing consistency, working with obsessive regularity and ending the day with a TV film including we will have barely read the synopsis to get an idea of the story and thus begin after a certain time the introduction of a sweet and calm night, as written on the boxes of herbal teas in the supermarket.

The smoothness of such a routine is sometimes so discreet that even two of us absorb the rhythm... without blinking an eye. I say this in a banal way but I'm sure you've been there before. What is completely uncontrollable is the duration of such a period; it is up to the one who realizes it first and who will express himself angrily about the recurring effect of this four-beat monotony.

The trigger alarm is sometimes simply an envelope that you open and which announces a special invitation for a special occasion and which triggers in you an inexplicable desire to go there. You don't imagine for a single moment going there alone, so you still have to put in place the strategy to convince and communicate this desire to your other half. What is the argument that will allow your spouse to adhere to the invitation that you have in mind and which has succeeded in extracting you from this routine torpor of which you were both not even aware?

The memory of an invitation for the presentation of a new automobile model in a particularly attractive place remains in my memory and plunged me into the need to find the right start to deliver to my wife an irresistible desire to accompany me . Attentive to different remarks, to his comments on certain products or even by tickling his opinions on this or that posture, I was able to observe the different attractions which would allow me to create surprise and the beginning of a desire to go out.

A few well-chosen items on the way back from work made me see reason when I placed the few mysterious packages on his lap. She discovered the elements with both amazement and wonder, her delighted look spoke volumes about the accumulated pleasure. The invitation that had caused this small earthquake was planned for the same evening, on this weekend like many of these events.

It's been a long time since we went out just for the pleasure of looking good and meeting up as lovers in an elegant place that we didn't know yet. So, that day, when I offered to remedy this state of affairs, she did not hesitate for a single second. While I was getting ready, she put on her little black dress that suits her so well, put on her finest stockings decorated with large lace, and put on the black pumps with red soles that I had just given her. Then we left in the evening…

The complicity mixed with the desire to discover a new place as part of a prestigious evening, made us completely forget the routine in which we had comfortably settled our daily lives. Arriving on site, the space appeared grandiose and distilled a very special atmosphere, the music, the furniture, the lighting served the intention of this invitation.

We were under the spell with this euphoric dimension which added to our own escape. The nature of this presentation evening was perfectly orchestrated, releasing a great deal of freedom over the second half of the evening. We discovered the different spaces and in a slightly remote place, equipped with large red velvet armchairs, we lingered for a while to better savor our glasses of wine and chat with newfound complicity. The charm of this escape encouraged me to embrace this moment and create the work that I invite you to discover here.

Alain Rouschmeyer

Alain Rouschmeyer is best known for his acrylic paintings on medium format canvas and his contemporary ink drawings. An observer of everyday life, he analyzes the human walk through the postures and spaces crossed, as if to probe the banal and capture its scent. His artistic itinerary invites him to work on architecture in which he likes to reflect on living spaces and the transversalities that define their uses. Like a poet-analyst, Alain Rouschmeyer's work navigates between reality and intimacy revealing attachment and detachment according to a conscious will. It explores the hidden dimension of everyday life which never ceases to challenge us like jazz music or warm blues. The romanticism of which he fully assumes the contemporary and timeless translation inhabits the support as an involved space.
