The story behind each painting: discover the secrets of my works

Each painting has a soul, each trait tells a story

A work of art is not limited to colors on a canvas. Behind each table hides an inspiration, an emotion, a moment lived . Whether it is an urban landscape sketched on the spot, a figurative scene imbued with light or an abstract composition born from an inner journey, each work is a imprint of time and the artist.

In this article, I invite you to discover the hidden stories behind my paintings . An intimate journey at the heart of my creation, where each brushstroke takes on its full meaning.

📢 What if you found your favorite work? At the end of this article, an exclusive selection of my available tables awaits you.

Inspiration: where it all starts

Each work begins with an impulse, a frozen moment which pushes me to paint. My main inspirations:

  • The movement and the journey ("path doing") : an artistic approach that captures the moment and the trace of time. Our postures linked to the spaces crossed… in resonance with architecture.

  • Architecture and urban landscapes : as an urban sketcher, I translate the energy of cities and spaces in my works.

  • Human emotions : a posture, a light, a scene of life ... These daily fragments nourish my painting.

📌 Example : "In this canvas, I wanted to capture the atmosphere of a lake edge, its transparency and the human posture of a daily journey. Water, stone and light intertwine to tell a suspended moment"

💡 Tip for buyers : Choose a work that evokes a strong memory or emotion for you.

📎 Each of my works has a description which reveals a written course in the history of the work.

📌 The work presented above : “ The girl by the lake ” an acrylic work on canvas of 120 x 120 describes a daily ritual worked previously on site and on sketch.

"She is Camille, he is the lake with her mineral decor revealing the bottom stones and the small poles that were disturbed by the arrival of the swimmer. A scene that I like to observe at each summer season with this particular ritual, in a somewhat perilous access which is different from one time to the other by the water level. The prior sketch which allowed me to make the acrylic work on canvas of 120 by 120 entitled “The girl by the lake”. Mineral and natural aquatic.

From sketch to canvas: the creative process

The birth of a table often follows several steps:

  1. The preparatory sketch : a quick sketch on a notebook, capturing a scene or an idea.

  2. The search for colors and contrasts : choice of dominant tones and light games.

  3. The construction of the work : work of forms, textures and movement to the final balance between the subject and the format. Important composition work.

📌 Visual illustration : photos of a table in progress, from the first line to the finalized work. “ The girl in blue

✏️ My unique approach : as an architect and Urban Sketcher, I play with the perspective and the dynamism of the line to give life to my paintings.

Each table carries a story

Beyond the technique, each work captures an emotion and an experience. Here are some examples of paintings and their stories:

🎭 "Forgotten passage" - a paved path under an old arch, inspired by a lonely walk in Rome.
"ephemeral reflections" - an urban scene where the rain transforms the lights into shifting of moving colors.
🌍 "distant horizons" - a tribute to travel diaries, a dream vision of a landscape between sea and sky.

💡 Art, a personal meeting : a collector told me that his favorite painting reminded him of a place where he had lived. And you, what story sounds in you?

Alain Rouschmeyer

Alain Rouschmeyer is best known for his acrylic paintings on medium format canvas and his contemporary ink drawings. An observer of everyday life, he analyzes the human walk through the postures and spaces crossed, as if to probe the banal and capture its scent. His artistic itinerary invites him to work on architecture in which he likes to reflect on living spaces and the transversalities that define their uses. Like a poet-analyst, Alain Rouschmeyer's work navigates between reality and intimacy revealing attachment and detachment according to a conscious will. It explores the hidden dimension of everyday life which never ceases to challenge us like jazz music or warm blues. The romanticism of which he fully assumes the contemporary and timeless translation inhabits the support as an involved space.
